It is slightly warm, strengthens tissues, calming to the nervous system, and can be used daily or weekly. Self-massage with this oil is helpful for combatting the excess stimulation of a modern lifestyle that increases vata dosha. Our body oils are prepared in the traditional manner using sesame seed oil (taila) as the primary base for each herbal blend. Sesame oil was prescribed and mentioned in the ancient Ayurvedic texts and Sanskrit literature as the “chief of oils”. Sesame oil has unique medicinal properties that promote deep penetration into the body’s seven tissue system (dhatus) and spreads throughout the body quickly promoting good circulation. It is balancing for all body types and “cures all diseases” according to the Astanga Hridayam.

Lather the entire body or main areas according to your constitution or dosha type. It is recommended that the oil be warmed before applying so that it absorbs into the skin more effectively.
